• The highlights of the World Youth Parliament for Water

    The WYPW is gathering for Preparatory work in Aix-en-Provence and in Marseille from 6 to 10 March 2012 for the election of the Presidency and writing of its governance Charter and its Statement on the 3 following issues:

    • Guaranteed access to water and sanitation for all;
    • Responding to climate and global changes;
    • Reinventing governance and the sharing of water resources

    The Statement of the WYPW setting forth the young parliamentarians’ messages, proposals, and commitments to concrete actions, will be disclosed during the official ceremony will be held on the 14th of March. The Charter will stipulate the WYPW’s objectives and rules of governance. 

    HIGHLIGHTS OF THE WYPW BEFORE AND DURING THE FORUM

    Saturday 10 March:

    10:00 am to 12:00 pm: Presentation of the WYPW’s preparatory work for the 6th World Water Forum:

    • outcomes of the elections results,
    • vote on the Charter,
    • advocacy and action outlines

    with the attendance of Mrs. Martine Vassal, Deputy Mayor of the City of Marseille and Mrs. Cécile Helle, Vice-President of the Provence-Alpes-Côte-D’azur Region
    Location: Council chamber of the City of Marseille – Espace Bargemon

    11:45 am: Meeting with regional press, WYPW members, and officials
    Location: Council chamber – Espace Bargemon – Quai du Port -13 002
    Marseille

    Monday 12th, March

    10:00 am to 1:00 pm: Participation of the WYPW’s Presidency and of Maud
    Fontenoy, WYPW’s Ambassador, in the official opening of the 6th World Water Forum
    Location: Auditorium du Parc Chanot, Marseille

    6:24 pm: Hosting by the WYPW’s youth of Yann Arthus-Bertrand, promoter of
    the WYPW and President of Good Planet Foundation, and of Famke Janssen,
    WYPW’s Ambassador and international actress. They will arrive on train iDTGV
    n° 6117 in Marseille, Saint-Charles Station

    Wednesday 14th, March

    2:30 pm to 4:30 pm: WYPW’s Official Ceremony – with the attendance of Letitia
    Obeng, promoter of the WYPW and President of the Global Water Partnership,
    based in Stockholm, of Yann Arthus-Bertrand, promoter of the WYPW and
    President of Good Planet Foundation, and of Famke Janssen, WYPW’s
    Ambassador and international actress
    Location: Hémicycle du palais des événements - Hall 1, Parc Chanot, Marseille

    5:00 pm to 6:00 pm : Press conference with the young
    parliamentarians and officials. Official ceremony wrap-up: WYPW’s
    commitments and actions to be carried out after the 6th World Water Forum
