‘Access to water and sanitation for all’, and ‘Protection and sharing of water resources’: the 2 priorities France will focus on during the preparation of the 6th World Water Forum

Of the fifteen major themes identified during the preparation of the Forum, France focuses on two issues: access to water and sanitation for all, protection and sharing of water resources. They will also be highlighted during the UN Conference on Sustainable Development "Rio +20" in June 2012. France will give special attention to work within this framework in Europe, Africa and the Mediterranean.

This entire process will take an animation of all times and intense negotiations with our partners. Also, for the Forum to be a success in Marseille, André FLAJOLET was appointed Commissioner to the 6th World Water Forum, under the authority of the minister of ecology, sustainable development, transport and housing. He will be responsible for defining and coordinating the positions of France and initiatives for this major world event. It will include the necessary impetus for the preparation of the Ministerial Declaration of the Forum of Marseille and announcements that can be made by the President of the Republic at the Forum.
