2nd Asia-Pacific Regional Synthesis Meeting for the 2nd Asia Pacific Water Forum and the 6th World Water Forum

Singapore - Saturday 9th July 2011 - The progress of the Asia-Pacific Regional Process for the 6th World Water Forum will be presented, with a focus on preliminary target action plans from the Target & Solution Groups, up to the Marseille Forum next March and beyond 2012.
Targets will be discussed and revised for each of the following regional priorities:

  1. Water Security: Leadership and Commitment  by ADB
  2. Household Water Security by UNESCAP
  3. Economic, Food and Water Security  by FAO
  4. Urban Water Security by UNHABITAT
  5. Environmental Water Security  by IUCN
  6. Water Risks and Resilience  by ICHARM
  7. IWRM Process for a Water Secure World  by UNESCO

This meeting, co-chaired by Erna Witoelar and Ravi Narayanan, Vice Chairs of the Asia Pacific Water Forum (APWF) Governing Council, will also be the occasion to launch the 6th World Water Forum call to submit case studies of key existing and innovative solutions that contribute to achieving the targets.

The APWF regional meeting follows the Singapore International Water Week where the International Forum Committee of the 6th World Water Forum (IFC) presented the objectives and the preparatory processes of the Marseille Forum 2012, as well as the 6 ways to contribute to it.
