Presentation of the 6th World Water Forum by Philippe Lacoste, President of the Political Process Commission at the 16th UN Secretary-General’s Advisory Board on Water and Sanitation

New York, USA - UN Headquarters: Philippe Lacoste, Foreign & European Affairs Department of France, President of the Political Process Commission for the 6th World Water Forum is returning from a presentation at the UN headquarters on June 22d of the next edition of the world water forum to be organised in Marseille in March 2012 by the World Water Council and the French National Committee, which gathers the French national and local authorities.

M. Lacoste presented, among other topics, a possible articulation between the work of the UN Secretary-General’s Advisory Board, the Bonn 2011 international conference coming next November, the 6th World Water Forum coming in March 2012, and the Rio+20 sustainable development conference coming in June 2012.

“This sequencing of international conferences offers a unique opportunity to plead at a global level in favour of strong actions dedicated to the development of water access and sanitation, as well as the improvement of the management modalities of a limited resource,” says the diplomat.
