Created 10 years ago by the former King of Morocco, King Hassan II, the Great World Water Price is regarded as one of the world's most important distinctions in the water sector. Selected among 33 applications coming from 21 different countries, Sahara and Sahel Observatory has been this year's winner. Chedli Fezzani, Executive Secretary of the SSO, highlighted the key to their success : apart from the scientific contribution, it mainly relies on their innovative political solutions' proposals regarding international cooperation. He precised: "Water is a vector for peace. The management and sharing of water resources are esential to Africa's development and conflict resolution in the Middle East".
