Greater involvement of mayors and local authorities in the 6th World Water Forum

18 November 2011

In March 2012, more than 180 countries, 140 ministerial delegations, 350 mayors and representatives of local and regional authorities, 800 speakers, 25 000 participants are expected for more than 250 sessions and over 400 hours of experience, knowledge and ideas sharing. The goal: to increase global mobilisation on water issues.

Policy makers, elected officials, mayors, water professionals, experts, institutions, users associations and civil society are invited to participate in and contribute to the 6th World Water Forum – Time for Solutions.
The 6th edition of the biggest international event on water is held by France, the city of Marseille and the World Water Council. Its organisation is based on the International Forum Committee secretariat and 4 commissions: Politic, Regional, Thematic and Grassroots & Citizenship. More than 2000 people, including many local authorities, are involved worldwide in the preparation of this great political event.

With a steady rise since 1997, the Fora have gathered all local, regional and international actors on the major water issues that cannot be undertaken without all stakeholders into a common framework with shared goals.
